Animated film ‘Sitara: Let Girls Dream’, by Academy and Emmy Award-winning director Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy and Vice Studios for Netflix, screened during the 2020 Sundance Film Festival in Park City on January 26. To accompany the film and in coordination with Equality Now and Girls Not Brides, CHIME FOR CHANGE and Gucci have launched a campaign around the theme “Let Girls Dream” in an effort to bring an end to child marriage, which affects 12 million girls around the world who are married off as child brides every year. After the screening, Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, Yasmeen Hassan, Global Executive Director of Equality Now and executive producer of the film Ariel Wengroff discussed the film’s theme with Paola Ramos of VICE.
